A freelance illustrator/designer, Jami started painting pet portraits as gifts for loved ones but found the animals – and the owners’ delighted reactions–so rewarding, she has made pet portrait painting a full-time endeavor. Not quite a caricature, each portrait is treated as an illustration, emphasizing featuresthat express the animal’s personality, as well as that of the owner when possible; or adding props and text to help tell the animal’s “story”. Jami started working digitally several years ago after having twins – and much less time to make art. She strives to keep her digital work looking as traditionally-painted as possible, starting with pencil sketches on paper and a traditionally-planned color palette.
Painting animals is by far the most rewarding subject, and she looks forward to working with you to tell your beloved pet’s story.
